Karak tea vending machine in the UAE: an office guide

Updated September 2026 · 6 min read

Ask a room of people in Dubai what they drink at 4 pm and a good share will say karak. That is why "can it do karak?" is one of the first questions offices ask when they look at a karak tea vending machine in the UAE — or at a coffee machine that also pours karak. This guide covers how karak from a machine actually works, how much of it people really drink, which type of machine to choose, and what it costs an office.

How a karak tea vending machine works

A pantry kettle makes karak the traditional way: black tea boiled with milk, sugar and cardamom. A machine can't boil tea for twenty minutes, so almost every karak machine in the UAE uses a karak premix — a powder of tea, milk, sugar and cardamom held in a canister. The machine doses the powder, adds hot water, whips it and pours the cup in well under a minute.

That matters for two reasons. First, taste depends mostly on the premix, not on the machine — a good premix with real cardamom is the difference between karak people queue for and karak they pour away. Second, because karak runs from its own canister, it does not need a dedicated machine. A bean-to-cup coffee machine with a spare canister can pour karak next to espresso and cappuccino.

How much karak do people actually drink?

We looked at this in our UAE Coffee Point Report 2026, which counted every cup sold at 54 CoffeeGo self-service coffee points over two months. Karak came to 4.7% of identified cups. Cappuccino and americano lead, as they do everywhere — but karak sells more than a plain espresso on the very same machines.

The takeaway for an office: karak rarely replaces coffee, it adds a drinker the coffee menu would otherwise miss. The colleague who never touches espresso, the driver waiting in reception, the visitor who wants "something hot, not coffee" — those are karak cups.

Karak-only machine vs coffee machine with karak

There are three realistic ways to get a karak machine for the office in the UAE:

OptionWhat you getBest for
Kettle and pantry premixKarak and instant coffee, made by handVery small teams, no budget
Premix-only tea and coffee vending machineKarak, instant coffee, tea and soup-type drinks from powdersCanteens and sites where price per cup is everything
Bean-to-cup machine with a karak canisterFresh espresso drinks, hot chocolate and karak from one machineOffices, clinics, showrooms, reception areas

A premix-only tea and coffee vending machine is cheap to run, but its coffee is powdered too — and in UAE offices, where cappuccino alone is more than a quarter of cups, that shows quickly. The bean-to-cup route keeps real coffee for the majority and karak for everyone else.

What to check before you choose

What a karak machine costs an office

Buying a commercial machine means paying for it upfront and then handling ingredients, cleaning and repairs yourself. For a karak tea vending machine in the UAE, most offices now choose free placement instead.

With CoffeeGo, the office pays nothing for the machine. We install it free, service it every week for free, and the office pays only for ingredients — from AED 1,000 a month, or from AED 600 for very small teams. Staff drink for free, karak included: our machines pour 14 drinks, from espresso and cappuccino to hot chocolate and karak. Karak is also the cheapest cup on the menu — in the office model a karak costs the company no more than about AED 1.5 in ingredients. Installation takes 3–5 working days and needs 1–2 m² of floor space, one socket and no plumbing. Details are on the office coffee machine page.

If you run a space with footfall — a building lobby, a showroom, a clinic waiting area — the model flips: we place a card-payment machine at our cost and pay you a fixed rent of AED 150–500 a month or a share of revenue. On our pay-per-cup machines karak sells for AED 5–8, most often AED 6 for an 8 oz cup — noticeably below the average ticket of about AED 10.7 across all drinks, which makes it the entry-price cup for visitors. See the landlord and venue option.

Where a karak machine earns its place

Karak does best where people wait or work long shifts. On our industry page, automotive showrooms list espresso and karak as what customers waiting on the floor actually order, and reception areas in clinics and schools lean towards tea and chocolate over espresso. Offices in free zones and business districts across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah follow the same pattern — see the areas we serve.

If your team is mixed — some coffee people, some karak people — one bean-to-cup machine with a karak canister is usually the right answer. If nobody drinks espresso and budget is tight, a premix karak tea vending machine is honest value. What rarely works is a coffee-only machine in a UAE office where half the pantry used to be karak.
